
Corn oil
Corn oil is a product obtained from the embryo of corn. It is oil obtained from the wheat germ of corn and is generally cheaper than many other types of vegetable oils. Corn seeds are crushed with special solutions to extract the oil.
Content of corn oil:
Corn germ has 12% protein and 17% fat content.
Approximately 98% of refined corn oil consists of triglycerides.
In terms of fatty acids, it contains 19-49% oleic acid, 34-62% linoleic acid, 11.1% palmitic and 2.0% stearic acid.
Crude corn oil contains higher amounts of phosphatides, sterols and free fatty acids than other vegetable oils.
Another important component found in corn oil is tocopherols.
